MultiSearch Text Door was originally written so that I could easily search caller logs and other system files and documentation for words and phrases of interest.  For example if I wanted to know all about John Doe I needed to be able to search through the caller logs, the file transfer logs, initial logon survey, etc.  These kinds of tasks, which all sysops do, was consuming more of my time than I liked, so MultiSearch Text Door was born.

I quickly found more uses for it than I had imagined.  By creating a couple of different instances of it in different directories I was able to give my users a specific door to open for specific information.   Categories were added to better organize the material, and ANSI graphics viewing was put in to let the program function as a graphics library.

Of course all this didn't do much for the user that wanted to download the information to read later.  So download support via DSZ was added.  (DSZ not included.)

Since I occasionally wanted to only find files that contained certain words or phrases that option was added as well as the ability to view only the lines containing the hits without viewing the surrounding text.

Now the door is a mature product with many interesting features that is flexible enough to meet most of your informational needs.

It comes with a separate utility that allows you to easily add a file to the menu or remove it just by filling in the requested information.  Files can be anywhere on the system.

Door usage statistics are automatically generated and caller activity logging is optional.
