What's New in Version 1.5

New Features:

The folder tree will now refresh if a CD-ROM disk is inserted in or removed from the drive. Note that "Auto notification" must be enable from the Windows Control Panel. Also, this operation will be aborted if ZipTrac is engaged in certain operations such as scanning folders, extracting descriptions, etc.

Bug fixes and modifications:

Minor code modifications to eliminate compiler warnings and to fix a couple of possible memory leaks.

What's New in Version 1.4

New Features:

When dragging a file or folder a highlighted target folder with subfolders will automatically expand if you pause briefly over the folder. This allows you to "drill down" to the desired subfolder while dragging.

A new option has been added to the Preferences Dialog that will let you turn on addition of files without a description throught the program. If you are creating a catalog, extracting description to the Description View Window, or updating a catalog those files will be marked with "No description in archive". A feature added in V1.3 will let you remove these entries at any time.

Bug fixes and modifications:

Description lines longer than 512 characters were not handled properly. Fixed.

What's New in Version 1.3

New Features:

You can now rename a folder from the directory tree simply by slowly clicking the folder name to open a small edit window.

Drag and drop has been implemented for folders as well as files. The directory tree will automatically scroll up or down when near the top or bottom of the directory tree window.

When using the "Open" command from the File List Window popup menu you will now get a detailed error message if the file cannot be opened. Previously the function would simply exit with no feedback to the user.

If you elect to add file entries to a catalog that do not contain a description when running the Update Catalog Dialog you can now quickly remove all of these entries later if you wish.

Bug fixes and modifications:

Better detection of multiple instances has been added.  Under previous versions it was possible to start multiple instances of ZipTrac if they were started in rapid succession.

Occasionally, when deleting several catalogs, file system errors would occur. Fixed.

Added detection of missing catalog root folders when updating descriptions, repairing catalogs, or removing invalid entries.

Resolved a couple of anomalies with grayed selections in the main menu.

When checking a catalog for updated descriptions there was no way to get out of the routine once it found missing files unless you allowed the program to removed orphaned descriptions. It will now exit if you answer "No" when asked if you would "...like to do this now?".

What's New in Version 1.2

Bug fixes and modifications:

When scanning your entire system the catalog save function would fail. This has been fixed.

When unzipping an archive the overwrite option now reads "Overwrite older files only" instead of "Overwrite newer files.

What's New in Version 1.1

New Features:

You can now change the drive letter designations within a catalog if your hardware configuration changes or you move folders to a different drive.

Archive date/time stamps are now stored in the catalog.

The Update Catalog feature will include files that have been modified since they were last cataloged. This allows you to modify archive descriptions and easily update a catalog to include the latest description. This feature can also be run stand-alone for greater convenience.

You can now modify an archive description from the catalog browser as well as edit only the description in the catalog. These changes can be immediately made to the catalog if desired.

When browsing a catalog the file list window will "follow" the description window if you click a description. This makes it much easier to browse the descriptions and go directly to a file in the list if you want to modify the description in the archive, remove it from the catalog, or unzip it.

A button was added to the description viewer that will pop open the archive description editor. Now, when you double click a zip file to see the description, you can go immediately to the editor if you want to make changes.

Bug fixes and modifications:

When browsing a catalog the program would crash if you attempted to open a catalog that does not exist and then tried to edit a description in the current catalog.

Hidden folders were reported as files if the user had chosen not to process hidden or system file (from Program Preferences). This has been fixed.

When selecting a storage location for catalogs from the preferences dialog the folder selection tree will now default to the first hard drive if the previously selected folder no longer exists. This prevents the system from attempting to access the floppy drive unnecessarily.

All folder selection browse trees now open to the current folder displayed in the edit box. If the folder does not exist the tree will default to the first hard drive.

When modifying catalog entries the description window in the catalog browser now updates much more quickly.

Sort order (file name, folder, or file size) in the File List Window is now remembered as you change directories.
