Woods Canyon Lake
Everyone knows about Woods Canyon Lake, good luck getting a camping spot if I want that kind of congestion I'll stay home. I just happened to check the RA website and I found a spur of the moment announcement from some guys camping and riding north of Wood Canyon Lake. Never been north of Woods Canyon,,,, lets rock! If I can only find them from their directions?????
Well I found them or their camp site ???? I hope it is their camps site ???? They are all out riding. Who knows when they will return. I guess I will meet up with them later. So as usual I take off on my own.
Did I mention this is all up in the cool pines !
Only seen a few cars all day after you get past the Woods Canyon Lake stuff.
This is Saturday afternoon. All these remote camp sites and no one there ???? The water is looking down from one of the camp sites to Chevelon Lake at Chevelon Canyon ?
It just don't get no better than this.
Perfect weather, perfect trail.

They all ride the super sized 4X4 utility quads,,,, Hey!,,,, Those Bastard,,, are laughing at my 250 !
........(just kidding)..
Maybe next time we hook up I will get to actually ride with them !
When I initially left camp I left a note (hoping this was the correct camp?) This was the correct camp so you see if I had got smushed or wacked out on the trail there was someone to say "gee who's truck is that in our camping area for 2 days? Oh look a note !" When I returned later in the day they were there. It's a good thing I didn't wait for them in the morning they were out all day too.

OK !!!! We got the big turn-out for this ride ! I'm not sure what the official head-count is, but it's more than a dozen for sure ! All classes were represented from go real fast to go slow. As usual and a normal practice the group split into 2 groups when riding with the go slowers in the back,,,, that’s me !
Just wait until I show my daughter ! I have proof "girls do ride", and they ride with their fathers too!
It was a real nice ride up to the cave. While riding at the higher elevations we had good coverage with the pine trees providing shade. When we parked it sure looked like a bunch of ATV's.
We could have never found this cave without a guide. I'm not sure how he remembered where it was, got it on GPS now !
(above left) There is this tree, it looks like it is growing at the ground level when you look at it. (above right) The tree is really growing at the lower level in front of the cave. (left) This is a real cave. It actually goes is a far distance. A few of the group went in for about 20 minutes and seemed to like it.
Making sure the cattle gate is shut behind us.
Some of the scenery was excellent. Some of it was surprising like the high grassland, just doesn't seem like it belongs here. I wish I had more time to snap a few more pictures.
This was the last rest stop for the "B" group. In our "loop" we just reconnected back with the road we came in on.

We got some time to snap a few more pictures on the way back.
