Washington's Park
This is a new area for me to explore. Usually I am up on the Rim, this area is below the rim. I am very interested in Washington's Park (area) This is the area the water from Blue Point Reservoir ends up at and dumps into the Verde river. For now I have to look up at the Rim and try to visualize where I have been looking down.
Whispering Pines ! Anyone familiar with this area usually describes it as creepy. You can hear the banjoes playing the theme from Deliverance. (Dueling Banjoes?)
(TOP) I found the the yard of the luckiest kid in the world, check out that tree house !
(Right) The totem poles are at Camp Geronimo (Boy Scout Camp)
(Below) The water from Blue Point Reservoir ends up here where it is discharged into the Verde River. It runs a generator that powers the pump at the reservoir.
(Right & Above) Strange tree formations. What do you see ?
I did find some nice "ATV riding" trails and some really nice creeks.
I need to go study the map. This was a nice area but had no big payoff. If I can't find anything better than I just seen, this place is a No Go . ,,,,,,, But it was still better than sitting home watching TV.

Sept 17, 2005 Blue Ridge Lake & Moqui Lookout
I've been to a bunch of these wussy man made lakes. None of them impressed me much "UNTIL NOW". I kept asking about Blue Ridge and only 1 person has ever been there, and that was years ago?
Blue Ridge is the starting point of the pipe (shown on previous pages) that goes down to the start of East Verde river.
This is ONE BIG LAKE ! It's long like a river with many turns and inlets. This river like setting provides for privacy and the feeling you are the only one there. I just don't know how you could get a better high mountain lake setting.
(Below)
Check out the shaded fishing spot.
This lake makes me want to get a small boat and do some fishing! (They do have a boat ramp and a 8HP limit)
On my way to Moqui L.O. I came across this UFO. It's actually a Doppler radar site.
It's 1:46 and they are closed for lunch????
I wasn't real sure if Moqui L.O. was a fire tower. It was just a name on the map. I'm thrilled to see it! I love going up the tower. This tower is staffed only during the day, during summer months. Helen is the Forest Service person at this site. If you get the chance "do visit her". It's not that scary going up, as you can see these 2 young ladies also made the clime ! (OK,,, it is scary, real scary if the wind is blowing hard ! )
I did this trip with an ATV. An ATV was not needed for this trip, but it sure made it more fun!

The dome really looked strange, like a giant soccer ball? I found the turn to Moqui. I'm sure glad I had my GPS programmed, the sign was on the ground and I could have missed it.
