9/3/2006 Quick trip to Mt Ord and Sunflower Mine
The weather didn’t look that good up north. The weather this past week said lots of rain had fallen. As we know from past trips the area we wanted to explore a little more was full or sticky red clay roads and trails. As a plan “B” we elected to not make the pilgrimage too far north. Our choice was the Mt Ord area since Glenn and Kate had only made 1 trip to the area in the past. (See Adventure page 29 Glenn crashes – Heee hee he)
(Below) For a nice low intensity ride it’s just hard to beat the road to Mt Ord
On the way to the top I thought I would let Glenn do some Geo Caching Glenn as you would know picked the squirt gun that I left at the cache 1-1/2 years ago ( See ATV adventure page #2)
After our trip up Mt.Ord we went back down and proceeded to Sunflower Mine. Some of the road was very scenic. The part I’m not showing is the big boulders we had to struggle through,,, that sucked!
Sunflower Mine is still in-tact after all these years only a few assholes have damaged it. I guess many people think it is their right to put their name on everything. If they really think that, they should include their last name and address,,, so I can find them GGgrrrr….
When visiting a site like this be very careful ! Lets save it for our children & grandkids.
We had some hard going (especially for the ladies) and some of the ride was great ! The worst day ATV riding is better than the best day sitting on your butt doing nothing.
