9/23/2006 Tom's Creek
Note: on our almost weekly pilgrimage to the forest we almost always stop at Subway in Payson. Five Gold Stars for being open extra early on Saturday mornings so we can pick up our lunch.
Knowing the other areas around here should mean a very kick back ride through the forest. I have to navigate with the GPS to be sure and cover this area and not get pulled to an area I already know.
Tom’s Creek is an area overlooked by me in the past. It’s kind of north of Pivot Rock, kind of south of Clover Canyon and kind of west of Potato Lake.
As suspected this is a very kick back type ride. We did find an area with strange rocks and vegetation growing down them. This area sort of looked like a Japanese garden, OK, not that good but fun to walk around and look at. (I guess I should have taken more pictures.)
The real ATV draw to this area for 20 miles around are the forest roads. The secondary forest roads, fire roads, whatever you call them. It would be real easy to have an accident at 10 MPH. Can you say “scenery saturation”? It’s like “sensory overload” but doesn’t involve ice-cream.
The best part to any Adventure – Lunch ! We need some kind of fold out shelf ? ATV’s just don’t have any good surfaces to balance plates and drinks on.
I wonder if I can get some kind of kick back from Subway for this cheeezzzzyy advertisement ???? MMMmmmm,
