Ride #73 !
It was almost exactly 2 years ago that I got my 1st ATV. That’s 104 weeks ago. 73 rides out of 104 possible weekends is a 70% rate, or about 3 good rides a month !
1/6/2007 Payson to E. Verde River
This ride will attempt to ride from Payson to E. Verde Estates. We will not go into E. Verde Estates just up to the highway by it. We will pass through the famous Doll Baby Ranch at pass by Crackerjack Mine.
I guess we should stage from a nice park in Payson and ride to the dirt, we are street legal.
This area is about as pristine as you can get. Very little use by the public and basically unmodified landscape except for the dirt roads.
Some of the secondary roads are ATV trails only but we did see truck tracks.
Some really interesting rock formation in this area along with a poor cactus growing out of the top of the rock.
We located several stretches of the E. Verde River. We never heard anyone mention this area. We have now GPS located several key features and will return to the northern end to explore more at a later date.
We seen trails down to the river (we hope) that we really have to go back and explore.

(Above) Sequential picture of Glenn crossing the E Verde river. We had 3 wet crossings and 1 dry if you count the (Left) broken bridge. Now that we have an idea what could be here we will surely return to check it out some more and what about that Crackerjack Mine ?
