Pictures from Blackberry Observatory

Picture of Mars taken August 8, 2003

This is a combination of images taken through red, green, and blue filters with an ST-237 and a 3x Barlow resulting in a focal ratio of f/30 through the 12" LX-200 and a pixel scale of 0.16 arc seconds per pixel.  The image was processed using unsharp masking and deconvolution to bring out the details.

The Crab Nebula, Messier 1

The Ring Nebula, Messier 57

The Ring Nebula - Deep

This is the same image as the one above but processed to go deep and show the 15th magnitude galaxy, IC-1296, in the background to the upper right of the Ring.  Note how many more faint stars show up in the image also.

Comet Ikeya-Zhang, March 13, 2002

The image was put together from many short exposures of the comet stacked to improve the image of the comet.  As a result of the comet's motion, stars appear as trails.
