I got my first Buckminster Fuller book in 1991 (I Seem to be a Verb, for 5 cents at Roy's Trading Post in Clarksville, Arkansas. I've read ISTBAV at least twice a year ever since. I've also read and enjoyed Critical Path, Buckyworks, Your Private Sky, and Inventions. Bucky is my hero, the reason I went into engineering, and the benchmark by which I measure my accomplishments.
I first read about Gerard O'Neil's Magnetic Flight concept in my high school physics textbook, and I've been fascinated with the concept ever since. While I've been disappointed in the lack of implementation of MagLev systems, I chalk it up to a learning curve. Innovation is ready to take off.
In my spare time, I play with my family as much as possible.
I teach an after-school chess program for 65 elementary school kids. I serve on the policy board for the Oklahoma Scholastic Chess Organization.
I am an avid Sooners fan.
When I was first learning Autocad, I drew up a 16-frequency dome. Click here for the final product. (Warning: Size is about 2 MB).
