Now lets add some text to our photo. I don't like the text button on the main window, because you cannot edit it later.  Instead you need to make it on its own layer and then you can delete it totally, so I don?t like that.

Instead, I like the dynamic text option. First pick your foreground color on the main gimp window. This will be your text color. 

Now to pick the Dynamic Text option. To get to it, right click on the image, click Filters, Render, Dynamic Text, like this:

You will then get the text window, where you can select all the options you want for your text.

When you press OK then you get this:

Oh, and if you want to edit the text later, make it bigger, smaller, different font, etc. just pick it on the layer dialog so that it is highlighted, then repeat the steps for dynamic text as earlier. What were they? Right click, Filters, Render, Dynamic Text.
