ORDER DNA TEST

The red DYS numbers are fast mutating markers and the white are slow.   Click HERE   for contact information on each individual listed, along with their earliest known ancestor.  Please upload your test results to www.ysearch.org using the link provided in the Y-DNA Matches section of your Family Tree DNA personal page, this will compare your results with those who have tested at labs throughout the world.  For more information on Haplogroup R and its Subclades click HERE

Various colors separate each individual group who are either an exact match or have one or more mutations (mutations are in yellow).  DYS 389-1 and 389-2 are actually a single mutation, but due to the lab at www.familytreedna.com adding the results of 389-1 to the total of 389-2, it appears that both increased rather than just one.  This occurred with James Henry Ware 40713 and Herbert Clayton Ware 147155.

The highest diversity of R1b is found in Asia Minor and the Caucasu, with declining diversity throughout north west Europe.  Scientists know that as diversity becomes greater for any plant or animal, you are nearing its true origin. The predominant sub-clade of R1b is is R1b1b2, also referred to as M269, and is dated to 5,000-8,000 years ago.  This date marks the first appearance of R1b in Europe. Two large sub-clades later developed, with numerous smaller clusters which indicates rapid growth and spread.  This allows you to follow that spread through the splitting off of subgroups to populate certain areas, first in eastern Europe, then a spurt through western Europe, with different subgroups appearing in Iberia and the British Isles.  To show the progression within our Ware group:  R1b1 (P25) led to R1b1b2 (M269) which led to R1b1b2a2 (P312) and finally R1b1b2a1a2f (L21).

Recent discoveries shows that among the steppe peoples, some tribes were dominated by haplogroup R1a, and others by R1b, with some overlapping. R1a also appears in areas that have never been Slavic, such as Scandinavia and West Germany.  Bronze Age skeletons found in a Lichtenstein cave, in Lower Saxon included two R1a, one of R1b, but no less than twelve of I2b2. These last haplogroups still seem to reflect the connection shown in the cave. The present-day distributions of I2b2 and R1b1b2a1b6* (L21) both flow along the Rhine and into the British Isles. The mtDNA haplogroups from the cave were dominated by H at 47%, which is close to the average for present-day Europe. Others individuals carried U5b, T2, and J*, a mix of Mesolithic and Neolithic markers.
