Allen's Hummingbird
Banding Photos
Banded 1/9/06, Lafayette, LA
The gorget was complete, and the crown showed some fresh feathers and some old feathers. There was no sign of active molt on the gorget, but there was molt occurring on the breast and belly. The back and tail looked fresh and like they were recently replaced. The mantle was the characteristic green, and rectrix #2 had the smoothly tapered point that distinguishes Allen's from Rufous. The wing had fresh primaries out to P8, but P9 and P10 were old. These outer two primaries are paler brown and the tips are worn.
