Carolyn Victorine and Peggy Robison on the Steinway Twins

Pianos by Steinway fabulously restored by Harry M. Victorine 2005
Model B, 1913 and 1917

Carolyn Victorine, formerly a member of the Music Department of Hollins University and Roanoke College, is a well-known pianist appearing frequently in the area and throughout Virginia. She also maintains a private studio teaching both children and adults. A native of Roanoke, she is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of music and holds a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois where she studied with Soulima Stravinsky and Stanley Fleetcher. She has soloed with the Roanoke Symphony and has made frequent guest appearances on radio, television, and in fine arts centers state-wide. Carolyn has also served as organist in several area churches, has served as a past accompanist for the Roanoke Choral Society, and has performed extensively as a member of the Victorine-Wallenborn Duo and the Hollins Piano Quartet.

Margaret (Peggy) Robison, with the encouragement of her father Salem physician Churchill Robertson, started piano lessons at an early age. At age sixteen, Peggy won a four-year competitive piano scholarship to Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After graduating with a degree in music, Peggy began post-graduate studies at The Julliard School of Music under the tutelage of Katherine Bacon.

Peggy's formal training and a promising career ended when she and her husband left New York and returned to the Roanoke Valley to raise their family. Peggy remained active in the community through such activities as the organization of the first summer camp for the fledgling Roanoke youth Symphony in 1959. She has been active at St. John's Episcopal Church for almost fifty years.

Now with her family grown, Peggy enjoys playing duos for the sheer love and enjoyment of the music, itself.
