The Readings

The readings are one of the very personal parts of the ceremony, and in some cases mean just as much as the vows to the bride and groom. The readings may be as important as the vows for those who do not feel particularly creative in their writing skills. In the readings, couples often choose words from the best known and most romantic writers and thinkers of any age. In the readings, couples have that very personal romantic or spiritual opportunity to share favorite passages. Readings are intended to introduce into the wedding understandings, feelings, and reflections on love and marriage that have influenced and inspired couples for hundreds of years. Favorites are often Shakespeare, Browning, Keats, Shelley, or biblical passages. The number of readings may vary from one favorite to six or seven, each for a specific reason or personal feeling.
