This is my son's pet Cockatoo, Tooey.  This is the painting that rather revolutionized my working in oils.  Prior to this painting I had been quite loose with my work, trying to emulate other artists who work that way.  I began this painting with a palette knife, but slowed down and discovered that if I took care, I could paint a branch that really looked like a branch!  I have been making paintings look like "things" ever since.
