MY GET AWAY
"MY GET AWAY"
There's a place down by the river,
it's the beauty of the glade;
removed from the noise of daily life;
where I slumber in the shade
mid the marvels God has made,
and everything thats wrong- seems so right!
* * * * * *
It's my favorite "get away"
where the weeping willows sway,
and the pine trees whisper softly in the breeze;
where the swans and ducklings
graze-
mid the gentle rippling waves,
beckons me like sailors to the seas.
* * * * * *
Where there is no TV noise,
or the violence it deploys,
no motor horns or whistles that I dread;
no telemarket bore who always calls before
you prepare to eat or go to bed.
* * * * * *
No blowing leaves next door-
that makes an awful roar,
or "wrong number"calls by the phone;
No barking dogs around or any siren sound;
just a perfect spot for me and God alone.
* * * * * *
Here, I rest in rapture's might
in pure serene delight,
to guide me along as I pray;
That's why I love this place-
for a little change of pace-
at my quiet and humbled "get away"
