ONE MORE JEWEL
"ONE MORE JEWEL"
"This is the last, there'll be no more!"
Our children so had stated,
but that's a song we heard before,
their tune is now outdated.
* * *
A Great-Grandson comes in the fold;
our egos now inflate;
one more wonder to behold,
again, our hearts elate.
* * *
One more jewel for us to mind;
adds a sparkle to our crown;
this brings the sum to number nine
to spread sweet joy around!
* * *
One more set of tracking feet;
(nine will come with smacking lips,)
carpet floors to clean and sweep
from rounds of ice cream dips.
* * *
Add one pair of rosy cheeks,
glowing as their joys unfurl,
We, giving what their young hearts seek,
"I wouldn't change this for the world!"
* * *
All this makes us oh so happy,
all our grandkids to adore,
These special gifts for this "GrandPappy"
and "GrandMa" for evermore!
