South Puyallup to Golden Lakes

2045 PDT 7/17/01

Cold and wet at Golden Lakes. Wet all day. Left camp at 0900. Klapatche @ 1230. Ate snack and inspected latrine. Both very nice. North Puyallup 1430 -- ate lunch, left @ 1515. Got to Golden Lakes @ 1830. Cold and wet. Saw two marmot. Lorraine saw a deer.

The terseness of log entries are directly proportional to the chilliness and dampness of the weather. We were cold, wet, and tired on this entire day. This was a long day, because we had to make up the distance from South Puyallup to Klapatche that we didn't complete the day before. When we arrived at Golden Lakes, the weather was so socked-in that Lorraine didn't realize that we were on the shore of the lake. All the sites were full, so we "squatted" at the group site. This wasn't a problem, though.
