I have been out of the Racing Pigeon sport for almost 20 years. The expanse of the Internet during that time now makes it possible to share information and ideas much easier. On this webpage, I will try to share some things I have learned as I get back into racing and breeding homing pigeons.

Spring 2007

I got the urge to get back into raising homing pigeons. I have begun building a Young Bird loft and hope to have it done in a few weeks. Some local friends and club members will be donating young birds to me to help me get started this year. If you would like to try your birds here in the warm Phoenix desert, I would be glad to accept your donation. (I will consider paying some reasonable shipping fees.)

One Loft Races

I have noticed that there are now many 'One Loft' races offering high-dollar prizes. However, it is not always easy to find the information on these races. Some are listed on the Internet and some only advertised in the magazines. I will try to collect the data for North America and present it to you in the table below.

Futurity Races

There are also many Futurity races, which are only slightly different from the One Loft races. Breeders send their young birds into a combine area to have a handler train this bird in his loft for the race. Again, it is not always easy to find the information on these races. Some are listed on the Internet and some only advertised in the magazines. I will try to collect the data for North America and present it to you in the table below.
