Using the WinPrinters with Adobe Acrobat

"The rest of the job (to end-of-file) will be flushed."

Adobe Acrobat Reader version 2.x printed PDF files with the Winprinter just fine. If you upgraded to v3.x you would have noticed that you could no longer print these documents. There was no fix for this except to continue using version 2. We all had hoped this would be resolved in version 4. While Adobe did not fix this in version 4, they did provide a means to print the PDF files from printers that did not fully support Adobe's postscript driver model. The solution is to print the documents as images.
  • Open the PDF file and click Print.
  • On the Print window that appears, put a check mark next to "Print as image".

This will print the document but the print time will be very long, as much as 20 minutes per page. This may be acceptable for one or two pages, but will be unbearable when printing longer documents.

The only other possible solution is to use Acrobat Reader v2.1, which may or may not work for you. I have a copy of v2.1 that you can try. It does not need to be installed, simply extract the zipped file to an empty folder and double click the .exe file to launch it. Because installation is not required, you can run this version and v4.x on the same computer. I've had mixed results printing with this version.

If anyone has a "full" installable version of Acrobat Reader v2.1, especially one that you've found to work, please send me a copy. I'll try any and all and will post the best one here for others to download.

Download Acrobat Reader v2.1 from here: Acroread v2.1

All other versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader from v3.0 on may be downloaded from Adobe's site: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/alternate.html
