" FOOD FOR THOUGHT THANKSGIVING"
****
'Mid the cool and gentle breeze
come Autumn's falling leaves,
which shows Thanksgiving Day is near;
I look forward to it all
when our children come to call;
to celebrate this happy time of year.
****
There'll be thirteen all together,
and nothing could be better
as our loved ones gather one more time.
to share our thanks and care
for the reason why we're here,
giving praise to God as we dine.
****
And the food upon the table,
is a symbol and a label,
the first, of course a turkey roast.
Then there's bread and stuffing mix,
and cranberry sauce real thick,
along with pumpkin pie I love the most.
****
And I'm sure there'll be some beans,
with corn and collard greens,
and sweet potatoes wrapped and baked.
All this precious food
will stimulate our mood,
and for our hungry souls to partake.
****
And the things we should remember
on the 23rd, November,
is giving thanks to God first of all;
that we're still alive and kicking;
that our lives have not been stricken
by tragic things that could befall.
****
Then our thoughts and prayers go
to the folks whom suffer so,
with lonelyness and pain they came to face;
without a single way to enjoy Thanksgiving day
with family or friends to embrace.
****
And last, but not least, as we gather here to feast,
is pray for our soldiers to survive.
" Protect them dear God on the bloody soil they trod,
our faith and trust in You... we confide."
****
And to all whom fought and died
so our freedoms won't subside,
we dedicate brave honors in their name,
and we shall not forget
the obstactles they met,
like Jesus, they did not die in vain.
****
So, this Thanksgiving Day
as we give our thanks and pray,
just believe we are the lucky ones;
That it's everyday's amount
of blessings that we count,
and not just the holidays that come!
