About the Atrist

Joe was born in Tyler, Texas in 1932 and moved to Oklahoma in 1936. He attended high school in Oklahoma City and graduated from Ponca Military Academy. He served in Korea while in the Army and retired from the Air Force Reserves. Joe has been married to Norma for fifty-six years and has two daughters and four grandchildren.

Joe began woodturning in high school and has pursued it full time since 1990. He has won numerous awards for his style and design, and has demonstrated his turning  skills at symposiums in various states. He has taught many people the art of woodturning. His materials are obtained from all over the world. His creations are determined by the grace of the materials he uses and his inspiration comes from his ability to create beauty from wood that would be considered ordinary to the layman. Items are not created before the material is obtained as each and every piece is dictated from what he observes from the materials. "It is my desire to bring out the absolute beauty of each piece so that everyone can enjoy their art to the fullest."  Each piece is signed and dated.
