April 7, 2006. I had the content of the site edited. It sorely needed it. The content was put together rather quickly and I didn't do the best job of self-editing at the time. I also resized everything to display on 800 by 600 monitors, so most everyone can view the entire width.
The weather has made it rough to get into a cycling groove. This week it rained every day except Thursday and Friday and the forecast for next week is rain every day! Maybe it's time to get some rain gear. Who would have thunk it in sunny Southern California?
March 29, 2006. Wow. Almost a year since my last entry. Lots of reasons. I separated and then divorced, dropped my Cox account so I couldn't access the site to make changes. and bought a car out of necessity and my commuting by bike dropped way off.
But, I am back in the saddle againliterally and figuratively. I am back on the bike and ready to update the site and finish some of the unfinished pages.
April 2, 2005. Mirror reinstalled, some more images taken for the web-site Here is the final result of the mountain bike reclamation project. Or, as my oldest son put it, "Pimping my ride."

April 1, 2005. It is gorgeous in Santa Barbara right now. The rains seem to have subsided and the sun is out. The commute in this morning was awesome.
I set up my mountain bike with a standard rack and Trek Interchange panniers, as well as Bontrager suspension seatpost. All was well until I parked my bike without the kickstand fully extended. The bike fell over and snapped my mirror off. Ugghh!. I have got to remember to fold it up when I park it. Oh well, I will get another mirror this weekend. Once I get the mirror installed, I will post a picture of it.
March 27, 2005. I went for a long ride today on my Giant road bike. The longest in a while (other than the Solvang century a few weeks ago). The rain here in California has really cut into my riding. But, got in 65 miles today with plenty of climbing. I felt pretty good, so I think I am back on track.
I have continued to work on setting up my mountain bike for commuting and what-not. I replaced the old worn out wedge bag, got the usual stuff to put in it, including a CO2 pump, and I remounted my handle bar mirror. I have a seatpost rack on it now, but I am thinking of putting a standard rack on it with a pair of Trek Interchange panniers. Maybe later next week. I have ridden it quite a bit in the last few days. Great bike for cruising around town.

I added some new graphics to the site in the last couple of days and cleaned it up a bit. I still need to finish the content for the blank pages. Hopefully, that will happen this week.
March 25, 2005. Well, here is my first blog entry. Like so many things in life. You start with one thing and it snowballs into something else. What started as a couple of articles for our company newsletter to promote Bike To Work Week, has become the beginnings of a Web site promoting commuting by bike.
There are a lot of various sites and other resources on the Internet promoting commuting by bike, so why another? Partly, because information seemed fragmented. Some places there was only the most cursory overview, in others there was so much detail I got lost in it. Some had good information, but layout and organization was so bad you had trouble finding the info you needed. Is this site going to be any better? I guess that's not for me to judge. Hopefully, it will be helpful to some. Enough with the disclaimer.
Bike Blog: A couple of weeks ago I was taking out the trash and walked past the Trek 820 mountain bike leaning against our duplex. It has been there pretty much since I bought my road bike three years agototally neglected. I looked at it and thought, "I should just get rid of it." Then, I pulled it out, hosed it off, and it didn't look too bad. I took it down to the bike shop I purchased it from and had them tune it up, put new rubber on it and, viola!! You would not even even guessed it had been sitting outside in the elements (unlocked most of that time) for three years. With the new slicks, a new seatpost rack, lights, etc., it's the perfect toodle-around-town bike. Now maybe my road bike will be jealous. I still need to to finish the content for the blank pages. Hopefully, that will happen this week.
