The
Iraq War Unglorified
WARNING: This gallery contains some images that are
EXTREMELY DISTURBING. They are not suitable for children and should
probably not be viewed by anyone with a loved one in Iraq.
These
photos portray the true face of war. It is very different from what
we see on TV here in the U.S. Our media is almost completely dominated
by a handful of giant corporations, all of which have a pretty cozy
relationship with the Bush administration. That’s why what we see
of the war is typically smoke rising in the distance, military press
conferences, and staged photo opportunities. Our government learned
from Vietnam that if you want people to support a war, it’s best not
to let them see what it’s really like.
These
pictures show why a civilized nation must engage in war only when
it is absolutely necessary, and only when all other non-violent options
are exhausted. They show why we must protest this unjust war, or any
war based on oil, money, or power.
