Tax Deductible Donations
West Side Home Educators is incorporated as a non-profit tax-exempt corporation which operates for educational purposes. Don't let this scare you into thinking we're some sort of big operation. We're really just a bunch of parents who have joined together to support each other in educating our children, and help others making the harrowing journey into their first few years of homeschooling.
West Side Home Educators typically ends the school year with less than 150 member families and about 450 kids, and our yearly budget is less than the government schools receive for 1 child. We get $20 per family in registration fees, but we drop registration to $10 after the end of January. Do the math: we operate on less than $3000 a year.

Fortunately, we have a bunch of really resourceful moms who make events like Science Fair, History & Geography Fair, Music Recital and Art Fair happen for a very small budget. We use rooms at the libraries, churches and community centers, which are typically free or very low cost. Field trips are funded by the families who attend.
But nearly every homeschool family is single income. Typically mom stays home and does the homeschooling while dad goes out and works. Most of us aren't poor, but we're definitely not rich. Some families can not afford to do art class, PE class, or attend field trips that cost $6/kid. Especially families with many children. We would like to do more events that don't cost, and you can help.
