On Dawkins, Moyers and Sloppy Thinking For perhaps the first time, there was actually a broadcast of "Now With Bill Moyers" (PBS, December 3, 2004 ) that was enlightening, thought-provoking and even astonishing. Specifically, Mr. Moyers' interview with noted atheist and "scientist" Richard Dawkins had me gaping in astonishment. I was taken aback by the blatant either dishonesty, ignorance or bias of Mr. Dawkins. I had an urge to grab my wallet when I realized I was paying for this broadcast through the US government sponsorship of PBS. I was enlightened by how little substance Mr. Dawkins brought to bear, beyond blanket, unsupported statements. My imagination was provoked when I realized how weak the evolutionists position really is. As Bill Moyers lobbed softball after softball at Dawkins, I found myself wishing that they could have at least found a child to refute Dawkins' responses. Of course, they never looked. There was an overriding feeling of a "setup" in the air. Mr. Dawkins claimed that evolution was as proven as anything else in science today with overwhelming evidence everywhere you look. He claimed that Intelligent Design is nearly unsupported by any evidence at all. Reality tells a different story. There is no evidence for Darwinian Evolution. As we mention over and over on the World Wide Christian Web (WWCW), the fossil record, which is the only real yardstick of Darwinian Evolution, does not show what Darwinian Evolution demands -- gradualism. Darwin himself commented:
"If my theory be true, numberless intermediate varieties, linking closely together all the species of the same group, must assuredly have existed . . . The number of intermediate and transitional links between all living and extinct species, must have been inconceivably great . . . An interminable number of intermediate forms must have existed." (Charles Darwin, Origin of Species, 6th ed., 1872, chapters 6,10,15) Darwin went on to say that "geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely-graduated organic chain" because of the "extreme imperfection of the geological record." That was well over 100 years ago. There are over 250,000 fossil species in museums today yet the number of supposed "missing links" are only a few dozen (which are not really missing links at all). The "numberless intermediates" are just not there and over 100 years of digging hasn't improved things for evolutionists. By Darwin's own admission, a high percentage of the fossils should be transitional forms. The more fossils, the more intermediates, but they are nowhere to be found.
Despite the comments of Dawkins when it comes to Intelligent Design theory, it has overwhelming evidence in support of it. Intelligent Design is supported by the fossil record, by modern cosmological evidence, by biological evidence, and so on. A good article called
Dawkins closed his interview which an admonition to look at the evidence for any claim. I do agree with him there. Do not believe what Dawkins or other evolutionists tell you. Look at the evidence -- and you are welcome to start your search here on the WWCW.
