The World Wide Christian Web - Past Editor's Comments

The Da Vinci Code Movie

Ho Hum, another poorly researched, anti-Christian movie with an agenda. Does anyone remember the movie, “The Last Temptation of Christ”? Why does any thinking person take this movie seriously? Even the supposed factual background in The Da Vinci Code is so far-fetched and erroneous one must completely turn off the logical parts of his or her brain to be able to sit through the movie or finish the book. All fictional accounts require some suspension of belief but this one requires so much that it becomes unenjoyable, in my opinion. One might as well watch a movie about tomatoes square dancing*.

Believe it or not, I don’t want to spend time debunking The Da Vinci Code movie or book in this editorial. There are dozens of books one can acquire if one cares about the facts. There is a deeper issue involved, the issue of Christian ignorance and a lack of critical thinking skills. The idea that the book or movie would cause anyone to doubt his or her faith speaks to, not the power of the media but the weakness of a faith without a solid base. Faith without a good foundation is like building a house on sand.

The World Wide Christian Web and other organizations exist to give Christians a firm foundation for their faith. When in times if doubt, it is the overwhelming evidence and logic of the Christian faith that carriers one through. This evidence and logic can be discovered within the pages of this web site. If the “Da Vinci Code” bothers you, get a good book that describes the many errors and the fact that it’s based on unreliable and very late sources. Then you might take a look at the overwhelming evidence in support of Christianity and the Bible.

* Tomatoes have no arms, hands, legs or feet. Tomatoes cannot move on their own, they cannot see, hear music or think. Tomatoes are perhaps a good subject for children’s shows or B-movie comedies but that’s about it. Of course, children’s shows don’t make claims that, in reality, tomatoes are more than just a fruit (or vegetable depending on which side of that issue you fall on).

I want to learn more about how I can have a relationship with the creator of the universe.
