Do Your Homework People are concerned about a lot of things today. People are concerned about saving animals, saving the environment, saving the poor, saving children, saving women -- all noble causes on the face of it. Who wouldn’t want to keep animals from cruel treatment? Who wouldn’t want to keep the environment clean? The Christian Bible itself tells us to take care of widows and orphans. It’s the right thing to do. So why are Christians paralyzed when it comes to these issues? Why would a Christian hesitate when it comes to the support of organizations dedicated to doing these things? Christians are paralyzed when it comes to supporting organizations that claim to represent good causes because these organizations often have hidden agendas. For example, organizations dedicated to saving animals might carry with them a goal to rid the world of the consumption of animals for food. They might even go as far as supporting human population control in order to give the earth back to the animals. Organizations dedicated to saving the environment might be a front for people who are interested in controlling the world through the taxation of wealthy producer nations through the selling of pollution permits (Carbon Credits). Organizations dedicated to caring for the poor might want to keep the poor down, reliant on handouts, to ensure a reliable voting block. Organizations dedicated to saving children might want to “save” children from traditional moral upbringing and the teaching of those values. Organizations dedicated to “saving” woman might be making a fortune from the slaughter of millions of unborn children taken from those very same women. So we can conclude that it is difficult as Christians to know what organizations to support. But just because it’s difficult, Christians are without excuse. In the past, it’s been too easy to send a check somewhere and feel like we are fulfilling our duty as Christians. No more. We need to research organizations before giving to them. We need to research our politicians before voting for them. Look at the mess we’re in now. A little research and clear thinking could have avoided a lot of anti-Christian laws that are no doubt on their way. The research needed can easily be accomplished by using the Internet and reliable Christian web sites setup for this very purpose. If you hear of an organization that needs help, first read their web page. If you want more information on a politician, look up their voting record. Do a search for an organization’s name or politician’s name on the Internet and on well known reliable Christian web sites. God didn’t call Christians to only help if it’s convenient or to be poor stewards of the resources God gave them. Do your homework -- and strive for an “A”. It’s just too important.
