Your Feedback
Requested:
Should Xara Dulzura be extended to four days and three
nights next year?
A bit of a grassroots clamor has begun, suggesting that XD
add an extra day to become a four day event. The idea appeals to us, increasing the
fun-to-work ratio by 50%.
But my feeling is that it should remain a three day event at
least for 2005. Adding an extra day would cost more, and we want to hold the same prices
again for the third year. Xara Dulzura has taken on a life of its own, but we want
to let it grow organically, and give it another year in its original form to finish
setting its roots.
But the suggestion and the question stand for Xara Dulzura:
2006.
Do you think the 2006
event should run from Thursday through Sunday? We don't believe in per-day
registration because we want everyone to share the full experience, but if relatively few
people would want to take the extra day off, it may not be fair to make others pay for it.
A poll taken by a member of the sandiegoburningman mail list
showed a 5 to 1 preference for extending the retreat, and a 3 to 1 preference for
extending it to 4 days and 3 nights over all the other choices combined.
The extra community time is appealing to people with theme
camps and big projects, and really to anybody who has spent time at Madre Grande.
But we don't want to rush our growth and we want to be good stewards of the community
experience. That community is you, and so, we always like to know what you are thinking.
