Myth 'n' Mutaytion:

Xara and the LA-based band/performance company, the Mutaytor, will debut an all new, theatrical treatment of the Mutaytor experience, in a show presenting the Xaran myth of origin, as that civilization recalls its beginnings, awakening, and first steps homeward.

This ambitious experiment in interactive, multimedia theater will combine Xaran   storytelling and stagecraft with the Mutaytor's music, drums, skills and thrills to develop the themes of both of them. Xara is an imaginary future civilization, where we won paradise and worked it all out. Mutaytor represents the change agent, the progressive force that opens the way for tomorrow to come. Together, we are the ends and the means.

Not only are the story and music original, but the form of the performance itself will be original, moving the story around and through the audience, and engaging the audience as its characters and elemental forces. All members of the audience are placed inside the story as personal participants, moving together through a surreal adventure in four acts. Myth is public dream, and we will dream this one awake together.

This piece will present all the best of the Mutaytor experience, with its music and drums, dance, hoops and fire, visuals and aerial stunts, its thunder and its lightning, in surprising new contexts.   The show, conceived by Xara's Mark Hinkley, will also be a proving ground for the very ideas about creative mythology and interactive spectacle that gave birth to Xara Dulzura in the first place.  Be prepared to jump in with both feet.

"Mutaytion - because evolution takes too long."

"...Xara yet is still to come, yet Xara here remains."
