Upon entering Xara, Participants become the people who inhabit this future paradise. Their acts of kindness, hospitality, creativity, and joy form our shared dream of Paradise Possible. Participants explore the paths and bowers of the jungle, discover its secrets, interact with the environment and with each other, operate puppets built into the scenery, join enactments of imagined rites, lounge on sodded lawns by day, and dance among the ruins by night. |

in our own backyard, the people who created imaginary rainforests in the Nevada desert
produce Xara in a living landscape on the grounds of the Madre Grande Monastery. .

The monastery grounds themselves are a world within a world, and will
become our world for Floralia - Xara Dulzura: 2005 This weekend retreat, presented with the Madre Grande Monastery, will invite Participants to populate a paradise world of the future as it celebrates imagined rites welcoming newsummer.
|
| In
exterior appearance, the retreat resembles a renaissance faire, with Participants assuming
the costume and manner of another time. But rather than re-enact a time gone by, we will pre-enact a time we hope will come. And since this future is still a blank slate, every Participant is invited to call on her own imagination, insight and creativity to render her own vision of paradise. |

In
interior action, the retreat will be a sincere and joyous meditation on our relationship
to the mysteries of life's cycles, the full-throated roar of life in full career, and the
vital and lusty coming of a new summer. Having created together an idealized world of the future, Participants will be invited to create the myths and rites to celebrate the coming of a newsummer. All the forms of the past are available as inspiration and the first forms of the future will be experienced this April - in Floralia - Xara Dulzura: 2005 |
