Saturday
Iron Horse Bicycle Classic
Durango to Silverton 50 miles.
After 30 miles uphill with 1 mile gain in altitude to the first 11,000 ft summit my legs felt like I was peddling with the brakes on. I stopped twice just to see if my wheels were working. I hitched a ride to the second 11,000 ft summit 7 miles away. Then it was 10 miles downhill to Silverton. I had to use my brakes a lot to keep my speed under 45 MPH. It took me 5 hrs and 10 minutes in total.  Margee road the train back.

Sunday
Drove to Mesa Verde National Park, toured the Anasazi Indian Museum, Cliff and Pueblo dwellings.

Monday
Rented a 2002 Jeep Wrangler with big tires and comfortable bucket seats. Drove the Alpine Loop through Cinnamon Pass 12,800 ft to Lake City and then to Engineer's Pass 13,650ft. Saw old mines and ghost towns.
