Philosophical Book Reviews

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read." - Groucho Marx

This section is devoted to intellectual stimulating books. My favorite books are books that make me think. Books by authors I agree with are OK to read; to learn new arguments to substantiate my own views. Books I disagree with, on the other hand, usually start out with a premise I know to be flawed then builds on that premise. Thus, such books are useless. The best are books in the middle, ones I do not entirely agree with that have new ideas I have never heard before. They are are the golden finds, and unfortunately rare. Here are a few I have found:

Nichomachean Ethics

"Uncommon Sense" by Alan Cromer

What is the nature of science?

god and ethics

"The End of History and the Last Man" and "Trust" by Francis Fukuyama

Where is society going and what is the best way to get there?
