When and where was the YMCA Achievers Program founded?
The YMCA Achievers Program started in 1971 in New York's Harlem YMCA as the Black Achievers Program. Its successes have since inspired many metropolitan cities to implement the program and, in many cases, extend the invitation to include all minorities. The Community Initiatives YMCA of Phoenix started its Achievers Program in September 1994.

Who is eligible to participate in the YMCA Achievers Program?
While the focus of the Achievers program is minority students, the program is not exclusive. Any student with the desire to succeed is welcome in the program.

What criteria do students need to meet to be a part of the YMCA Achievers Program?
Youths must be in grades seven through twelve to enroll in the Achievers Program. While there are no scholastic requirements to enroll, students are encouraged to work towards a minimum GPA of 2.0 in their first year of the program and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the following years. Annual participation in two to four community service projects, two to four career clusters and two college activities are expected as well.

What is the Annual YMCA Achievers Banquet?
