Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a baby sling so unique? A baby sling is simply designed baby carrier constructed out of fabric and stainless steel rings. Different styles of baby slings are used throughout the world in many different cultures and have been used for hundreds of years. Our slings are compact and can easily be packed away in a diaper bag and are one of the most versatile “must have” items for any mom!  In addition to being used as a comfortable baby carrier it can be used as a harness for the mobile toddler, a blanket or diaper changing pad, and  as a strap to secure a child in a restaurant high chair or grocery shopping cart. It is also essential to any breastfeeding mom who is on the go with her baby because it provides extra privacy for nursing.

What is babywearing? Babywearing is actually a term coined by renowned pediatrician Dr. William Sears.  The term means exactly what one would think, wearing your baby in your sling  as you would a piece of clothing, put it on in the morning and take it off at night.

How do I know what size sling I should order? Our “standard” sling fits women’s and men’s shirt sizes small through large. Anyone particularly smaller or larger than that should order a special size sling, this can be done by emailing us regarding a custom sling order.

Can I use a baby sling with twins? Absolutely!  As newborns twins can be worn together in a single sling which recreates the sensation of being in the womb, after all  they were in there  together as well. As twins grow, it will be necessary to use two slings, one over each shoulder in a “criss cross” fashion.  The hip or back carry work best for this scenario.

How do I know my baby will like being in the sling? Most babies, especially newborns  love the sensation of being nestled close to mom or dad and will take immediately to a sling, especially if it is used from day 1. Older babies may take a few days to get used to being in the sling. We recommend that when acclimating an older baby to the sling you wear them for a short periods each day gradually increasing the amount of time they spend in the sling. Unfortunately, in very rare instances babies will not take to the sling but most of the time toddlers who enjoy their sling will actually find it and bring it to you asking to get in!
