Dear Family, Friends, Teachers, and Visitors,

I began setting up this site to help us best meet Zoe's needs. Zoe was born deaf to hearing parents. She was diagnosed with a congenital, bi-lateral sensorineural hearing loss shortly after she was born. Her loss is severe to profound in her right ear and moderately severe in her left ear. Zoe has worn bi-lateral Phonak Valeo Hearing Aids since she was less than 10 weeks old. Her hearing loss is due to a Mondini defect, in which her cochlea did not fully developed. This type of hearing loss could be progressive. We chose Total Communication (TC) as our communication option for Zoe because it uses multiple and reinforcing methods of communication to support both receptive and expressive language development (sign, voice, speech reading, gestures, cued speech, facial expression, …).

I thought that it would be helpful to have a place to go with links to useful information related to deafness. Since then, the site has expanded to include other information, as well. Zoe's younger sister, Ava, and for our feathered one, Roxy also have their own section.

If you find any great sites or information let me know so that I can add it to this site. I'd like to make it a "one stop shopping" type of website. Please let me know what I can add that would be helpful for you.

Thank you!
Kelly
