"Letter from Russia"

Pastor D. F. Maul received the following letter from his brother-in-law Kindsvater in Huck, Russia:

Huck, on the 10th of July, 1921

Dear Alexander Alexandrovich:

With heartfelt thanks. I herewith confirm my receipt of your registered letter from the 26th of May. It was given into my hands on the 30th of June. I also thank you very much for forwarding my letters to Sister Maul in America.

A very happy bit of news was received from Moscow in the last few days. There will be a German Commission there, carrying on commercial treaty negotiations with Russian representatives and also, among other things, promoting the return of Germans to Germany.  I, and many others of our German brothers, are interested in this, so we put together a group of about 15 families and will today begin important undertakings. We have forwarded all of the required forms answering questions about ourselves and asking two of them ourselves. Myself and speaker Eckerdt from Huck will travel to Moscow today, in order to obtain permission to emigrate.

I ask you, if you please, as soon as you receive this letter, go to the foreign office for me, my father-in-law Philipp Kindsvater, my brother Georg, Brother-in-law Peter Schlidt from Norka and my son-in-law Johannes Frick, in all 40 souls, who wish to request immigration permits and that is our intention to temporarily go to Berlin and: 1. register as immigrants with the police authorities and 2. be certain to be able to obtain immigration certification from the housing office. It will be better for you to grasp on to us if we make a quick trip there with our belongings.

Such a letter has been simultaneously sent to Georg Dummler, Berlin N.27, Wòrther Str., 9, 2, Trp., near Lisso; Martin Kaufmann, Sprau, N.W., Oberschlossstr. 24; and others.

Also we hope that your each and every action, will quickly provide us all the proper help.
