Since I last wrote there is nothing special to
report. The health situation is fairly good. Typhus still rages here and
there, mostly among the middle aged, but not so widely as compared to the
previous winter. Now, sometimes a whole week goes by without a death being
recorded, something that for 10 months one couldn't do. Yesterday the bells
tolled the death knell for our dear brother Georg
Kindsvater (Son of Philipp No. 1, tailor, 35 years
old), he was only sick for 33 hours with stomach pains. It is the first
The weather was remarkably warm and quiet
through the entire time from October until now. Little snow,
but good sleighing. It is also certainly pleasing that dear God sends us
such weather instead of conflagration which He keeps to himself. Still nothing

During the New Year's celebration we had a christian brotherhood conference in Norka at which, the many brethren and people of the villages, 5 Pastors and the Evangelist Jacob Fink participated. Since I still had no thoughts about the conference, they were highly sought after. Thanks to the beautiful, quiet and warm weather, the conference was able to be held in the spacious church. I believe little or nothing was missed as I can assert that about 4 thousand souls took part. Whoever is acquainted with this church can, to a certain extent, make a picture of this gathering. For the reciter of the words of God needs only the altar as a room. When one looks into the assembly of the multitude, surely head to head! From the details and those who were hopefully opposing the fests, was Br. Volz, who was also continuously present,
Your Report. Only so much --- through the powerful workings of the Lord noticeable torrents of the living waters went out, they, as we hope, will bring forth new life to the villagers. May the dear Lord bestow his blessings thereon.
That was, accordingly, the newest, that from

-- About the query about me, Philipp Kindsvater, in the D.F.P. (Deutsche Freie Presse) from Jacob Leichner on the 24th of August, I can report the following: Georg Kindvater (the elder), as well as his oldest son Johannes are both gone to eternity. Both widows together with their children are living in our old home. It is not the best of times. The second eldest son Georg has married Amalia Michel, the daughter of my sister Maria Kath. His elder brother Johannes together with his wife died on the line in Armawir, where Joh.himself is employed as schoolmaster. 5 children have returned and are still living in the village. Peter, the youngest brother, formerly traveled on the line, lost his wife and 5 children through death. He together with children returned. He is living with the eldest of his people and is sickly and bedridden. The children have been entrusted to friends and the eldest son was taken into service as a soldier. From our family line, I and brother Georg are the only ones still alive. George lives at the Eckerdt's farmstead and I at the farmstead of Philipp Hempel, right across from "Fatty" Jacob Michel. (who also died last winter). Our dead brother Jacob's wife and 3 children has married Peter Olberg from Kukkus. From the line of our Uncle Johs. there is still Joh., together with those of his people who are still alive, live at the old farmstead where the weaving mill was in your time. Philipp died on the line 1 year ago. His descendants live there. From the Weissen only Joh. remains alive. He went on the line in the previous year. There has been no trace of him since then. From cousin Peter all are dead including the four married daughters. His brother Joh. has been dead for a year. His family lived on the Múhle near Knjasowka, near Walter. your brother Georg wrote to his godfather, my brother Georg in 1914 at the beginning of the war from the service (military) and since then there has been no trace of him. Your halfbrother Jacob Schwabauer's wife Margaretha, nee Kreick died a month ago. Shortly thereafter he married the widow Anna Marg. Weigandt, nee Wacker (her father was Joh.).
