Well it's 2:43,
And I wake to the sound,
The sound of fumbling keys,
And familiar obscenities
that tell me,
Daddy's Home.

And in the dull red glow,
And through all of the,
Cigarette smoke,
I see a man with a soul,
Long turned to stone.
And in the bone chilling
cold,
Heart of the family home,
I hide in the dark and
prepare,
To ride out the storm.
And it's coming,
I know it's coming,
Oh yes, it's coming,
Cuz Daddy's Home.

And he stares out in silence,
From his prison of pain,
Sometimes reaching out,
But always in vain,
Cuz in the end he'd rather
be cursed,
And gladly accepts the
shame,
As he sinks into the depths
of his bottle,
Again and again,
Yeah Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home,
And another long night,
Of substance abuse,
Concludes.

And there's always some
excuse,
To use instead of truth, to
justify the juice,
And there are no rules,
And no escape routes,
And there's no turning back,
And the finale starts with the
stuporous rebuke,
And a whisper that it's just, just
no fucking use,
And so he blames it on the wife,
And he blames it on the kids
And he blames it on life.
And he blames it on the boss,
And he blames it on the job,
And he blames it on God.
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home.

And then howling, like a delirious rabid dog,
His festering soul can hold no more pain,
And like a trigger he suddenly erupts, enveloping us,
And we drown in his flood of hatred and rage,
And then he beats his
loving wife,
And he beats his helpless
kids,
Then he tells us that he
loves us
And then he beats us all
again,
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home.
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home.
Daddy's Home.

Then finally he falls into
bed,
In exhausted self-absolution,
And then he weeps, and then
he sleeps,
Just like a fucking baby,
And on his face there is no hate, no attestation,
Wiped clean is the slate, made ready again,
For another day of the same, malevolent rain,
In this vast human sewer of loathing and pain.
Daddy's Home,
Yes, Daddy's Home, Oh yeah.
And you know that your
Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home, Oh yeah.

You know I once prayed to
God,
To cure his disease,
But God and Heaven,
They were only a dream,
The dream of the escapists,
Who try to hide, who try to
deny,
The very meaning of life,
And the cruelty of being.
And there is no solution,
And there is nothing to gain,
There is no retribution,
There is only hatred and
pain,
Over and over and over,
And over again,
Daddy's Home.

So this is what it means,
To be human,
To lie down, and to accede,
To wailing
madmen,
The innocent to revile,
The honest, to defile,
The worthy, to despoil,
Humanity to destroy,
And as the tyrant dies,
So the bad seed takes root,
And deep in the tortured heart,
Of the poisoned youth,
Fatherhood is renewed,
So be it.
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home,
Daddy's Home.
