Accommodations at LEWA were not what one would typically expect when planning on staying in a tent in the bush. The room was a "tent" in name only. With hot and cold running water in the sinks, toilets, and showers, laundry service, electricity, comfortable beds, and plenty of space to spread out, we were hardly roughin' it. The staff was most gracious and welcoming. Every evening before bed, we followed a path of lighted lanterns to our temporary home. When climbing into bed, I was pleasantly surprised to find a hot water bottle holding my place; and in the morning, my alarm clock consisted of a friendly "Helloooo" from the staff who left a tray of strong African coffee or hot tea on our front porch.
Every morning we received a huge breakfast with omelets made to order; and lunch and dinner always had an English flare. I have to admit, daily afternoon tea and biscuits made me feel a tad like royalty. Given time and space, I could continue to rant and rave over the staff, the food, and accommodations. It truly made the trip of a lifetime, even more memorable! Visit Lewa's website to find out more about their accommodations.
