The teachers graciously welcomed us into the classrooms and the students shyly interacted with us. The kids were as curious about us as we were about them. One thing that they found of interest were the digital cameras that some of the members of our group had brought. With their permission, we would take their picture and then be able to immediately show them the results. They were tickled and fascinated with this technology and to be able to see themselves on the camera's screen.
They sang songs for us in Maasai and in Swahili. The rhythm of their music is so enchanting. One of our group members belted out a song for them as well. Betsy, a former Opera singer, decided to perform Getting to Know You. This type of singing was amusing for the children, quite different from their own music style, but overall I think they enjoyed themselves. At the end of our visit they thanked us and waved to us goodbye.
