Bottle Feeding Tula

Tula, born to Mawingo on June 5, 2004 had just celebrated seven months when we arrived on Lewa. While at Jane and Ian's place, we had the awesome opportunity to help out with Tula's late morning feeding. As her keeper called her, she came bounding from around behind a bush. She then slowed a bit as she approached and went over to the tall grasses and plopped herself down for a short nap. Her keeper turned on a garden hose and Tula came over for a little romp and a quick slurp. Off to get some formula, the keeper headed toward Ian and Jane's and Tula rumbled behind.

Shortly they returned with a huge bottle and pan full of milk. We all got our chance at feeding her, and she went through not one but two of those big 'ol bottles. Her full belly as well as her contentment were quite evident when she was finished. After her feeding, she played with us a bit, pushing up against us and allowing us to scratch behind the ears. Another of our trip's simple pleasures!
