Where am I?
dB Outlaw is my handle on a few car audio message forums so its logical to repeat it throughout this site since it is a presentation for my vehicle and its modifications.

Picked up Erebuni carbon fiber hood from courier and dropped it off at the shop. We performed a test fit and noticed some fitment issues with the hood that need to be resolved.

I decided to lighten the load in my hatch and replace the dual 15"s with 4 8"s. Furthermore, all of the automation is getting removed and sold. The plan this time is to fabricate 8" pods in either corner of my vehicle.
Fiberglass pod was attached to the opening behind both panels and the rings were mounted.
11/11/2004
Dual 30-band EQs were installed in the glove box with staggering results.
09/19/2004
New kick panel fabrication complete. Malfunctioning Zapco C2K 9.0 uninstalled and returned to Zapco for repair work. Dual 30 band EQs ordered from Zapco.
08/13/2004
All is better now. System is back in full operation. I decided to leave the sub amps running at 8ohms because I didn't want to send them back to Zapco so they could be reconfigured (to 2-ohm models). The custom kick panels will be refabricated in a few weeks in an endeavor to make them smaller. Later upgrades include: high output alternator (already ordered) and upgraded Big 3 wiring.

With the good comes the bad. I've been experiencing a few system hang-up's the past month or so. The system will periodically cut off. It appears one of my 9.0s sustained internal damage from the accident and has been sent in for repairs.
That appears to be the reason for my ill-sounding subs. Since the 9.0's departure, I still am suffering from system cutting off however. I am suspect that a symbilink wire is coming loose, most likely from the SLX-4 input.
I've decided to replace the Vifa PL drivers. They simply do not impress me when being used as a strict midbass driver. After many comparisons, I've decided to use a pair of MB Quart QSD 6½" midbass drivers (164). Since there impedance is rated at 4 ohms, this will increase a 6.0's output to the full 150Wx2. I am eager to hear the results.
06/05/2004
Custom fabrication completed.

Fabrication of custom enclosure for midbass drivers completed. A set of Vifa PL 6.5" midbass drivers are mounted behind my stock door panels in a 0.25 ft³, sealed enclosure.
02/14/2004
Custom fiberglass kick panels completed. Drivers still lack power due to having no amps installed in the car. Listened to the kicks on a test bench (deck power) however and the drivers sounded crisp and clean. At present, still running stock speakers until amp and active crossover is installed.
01/09/2004
Custom fiberglass kick panel fabrication begins. Kick panel will house Eton drivers (1" tweet and 4" midrange). To be sprayed with sound deadener (inside) and filled with polyfill. Wrapped in black-dyed vinyl.
12/20/2003
Clarion DXZ835MP Headunit installed. Unit is a solid piece that offers few bells and whistles however. Far cry from my previous Pioneer DEH P940MP but at less than ½ the cost. I feel this Clarion model is a great budget MP3 player if you aren't concerned with a flashy display or a lot of features. People ask why Clarion over my old Pioneer. The simple answer is asethics; I wanted to match my red gauges.

One month after my accident and I still do not have a rental car. In need of transportation, I purchased a 2004 Toyota Matrix XR. The contenders included a Toyota Rav4 and Mazada Protege5. I felt the Matrix had a more luxurious interior than the Mazada and was financially a better purchase than a Rav4. All three vehicles were good candidates however.

On that morning, an inattentive driver rear-ended me while I was stopped at an intersection light. Her car slammed into mine at an approximate speed of 45 MPH, pushing my car into the SUV stopped in front of me. Luckily I walked away with minor aches and bruising, however my car was totaled. The car and system modifications are now commemorated in the 1997 Escort Gallery.
