	Hello, My name is D.C. Amarasinghe and I am a physician and surgeon with my own practice in Norfolk, VA. I have cofounded an orphanage in my native Sri Lanka after the terrible Tsunami hit, which you can read about here. At our office, we have a weight loss program that consists of an initial office visit where the patient is evaluated to see if they are physically fit to take the diet pill. We let them know what their appropriate weight category is and give them handouts on proper eating and exercising. We also recommend before starting on the diet pills to get a screening blood work to exclude certain diseases like Hypothyroidism and Cushing's disease. If it was either of the two they can be cured by correcting the hormone defect and usually do not require any diet pills.

They are then given a prescription for the pills and a follow up appointment in one week. At the follow up appointment, we go over the lab work and the treatment may change depending on our finding on the lab work. If he/she has achieved the weight loss, they will continue the prescription and the monthly appointments at $30 each until he/she has reached their ideal weight.
