Al-Rezaq

Many believe Al-Rezaq joined in the rebellion so it could fight and beat up on somebody. The country joined just as the rebel troop could show they could hold their own against the Imperial forces. Al-Rezaq troops became the main body of rebel ground troops during the conflict. Unfortunately, Al-Rezaq’s ships were the most heavily devastated by Imperial forces.

Farsi Demotaka is the shiek who rules Al-Rezaq. He is an accomplished warrior, and quite the lady-killer. His harem of women supposedly numbers over one hundred, though this number is most likely exaggerated. Farsi is very handsome and uses that to his advantage in international and national relations.

To say the country of Al-Rezaq was dry would be a severe understatement. The entire area is arid, turning everything into a desert. Rain comes sparingly to this land. It is believe the land has been cursed by Neptune, due to sacriligious practices towards the god which were performed during the rebellion. The development of the desert was swift, as before the area was a lush grassland. Understandably, Neptune’s wrath has caused a resurgence in his devotion in the area. Thus, the terrain of Al-Rezaq is not very hospitable.

Al-Rezaq’s citizenry is fairly diverse. Humans, however, are the most predominate. Dwarves, from the northern mountains, are the second most populous race. They are followed by orcs and goblins. Elves are a rarity in the country, due to the lack of trees, but a couple of tribes of elves do exist. The tribal system would not normally convey a rigid structure, but Al-Rezaq opted for a shiekdom with very strict rules, when it was given the chance for independent rule.

Four cities, all but one on the coast, consist of the urbanization of the Al-Rezaq population. However, a vast majority of the population are wandering nomads. These bands make Al-Rezaq very uncontrolled. Control is only had by adherence to the same religion, which rules through the Grand Caliph’s support of the shiekdom.

Al-Rezaq focuses almost all military forces into land-based troops. This has created one of the toughest systems of troops, especially if engaging the enemy on home territory. The Al-Rezaqis believe any attempt to attack their land would be a land battle over the desert sands. Furthermore, a number of Al-Rezaq’s interior residents are afraid of water. Unfortunately, this makes Al-Rezaq almost completely reliant on mercenaries and privateers whenever engaged in a naval conflict. The Al-Rezaqi fleet was crushed rather soundly numerous times by the Imperial fleet. This only added to the resolve to not spend more money on the problem.
