Sound Birthing Doulas
Sound Birthing Programs are based in music therapy research and have been designed to meet the emotional and physical needs of the mother-to-be and her family.
The music therapists who are trained in Sound Birthing Programs are committed to helping families bond with their baby before birth, provide comfort and relaxation techniques to assist the birthing process, and to provide musical tools to help babies and mommies at home continue to bond and to communicate with each other.
A Sound Birthing Doula is a Board Certified Music Therapist who has additional training in:
- Pre-natal music therapy (20+ hours)
- Music therapy in labor and birth (20+ hours)
- Professional doula / labor Support (20+ hours)
- The use of music therapy in post-partum support or doula post partum support training (20+ hours)
A Sound Birthing Doula provides:
- Emotional support — birthing family
- Physical comfort measures — positioning, massage
- Music therapy assisted childbirth / sound birthing program
- Liaison for the birthing family — communication and reassurance
But, does not provide the following:
- Clinical tasks such as blood pressure checks, fetal heart checks, etc.
- Make decisions for you or speak on your behalf. You can discuss with your Sound Birthing Doula options available to you, but you or your partner will speak to the clinical staff.
