1983 PONTIAC TRANS AM
25TH ANNIVERSARY DAYTONA
PACE CAR REPLICA
The weather has moderated now, so I had some time to work on the car again!

When I bought the car the two front bumper covers were off the facia. The previous owner said it was done due to the car overheating.

My theory is the car might have overheated on the previous owner due to the condition of the air dam under the radiator. These cars REQUIRE this air dam to direct cooling air into the radiator from below. The one on my car is torn up, folded back, and held on with coat hangar wire as you can see in the pic above.

The bumper covers are fastened from behind on the Trans Am models. That means I had the fun of taking off the entire front facia in order to reattach the two covers.

After a few hours of work, the covers are back on the front facia, and the facia has been reattached to the car.

I added a new under-radiator air dam. I guess we'll now find out if my overheating theory is correct! The car has never overheated on me since I've owned it. Now we'll see how it does with the covers on and a good air dam.

Looks much better now!
